[00:00:02] Hey everybody welcome back to the Outcomes Rocket here at Hymns. I have the pleasure of being with the outstanding Jeffrey Sullivan

[00:00:11] Jeffrey is the chief technology officer at consensus cloud solutions

[00:00:16] He served in that role since February of 2019 where he oversees technology

[00:00:22] Product and the PMO prior to joining consensus

[00:00:26] Mr. Sullivan was chief technology officer for demand force owned by internet brands incorporated and vice president of technology

[00:00:33] For the health market segment at internet brands such a pleasure to have you here today. Thank you so much pleasure to be here

[00:00:40] Yeah, so just to kick things off

[00:00:41] I love if you could just tell us a little bit about yourself and also the company sure regarding myself

[00:00:46] I've been a senior technology and product executive for the past 25 years in

[00:00:52] Everything relating to regulated industries and software so we build software financial services healthcare

[00:00:59] Real estate sort of any heavily regulated industry

[00:01:01] I've been involved in and that's been a great ride for me in terms of consensus cloud solutions

[00:01:06] We're actually part of a publicly traded company for the past 20 years

[00:01:10] We spun out into our own publicly traded company consensus cloud solutions in October of 2021

[00:01:16] under the stock ticker of CTSI on the NASDAQ and our focus is on

[00:01:21] This cure exchange of digital document-oriented data. So it's a digital cloud facts

[00:01:27] It's a healthcare interoperability digital signature

[00:01:30] So we have brands like key facts, which is kind of a Kleenex of digital cloud facts

[00:01:35] Consensus unite, which is a an interoperability platform conductor

[00:01:40] Which also does interoperability platform work and finally J sign, which is a high-trust certified digital signature platform

[00:01:47] You know Allah, Dr. Sine Adobe sign in that area

[00:01:51] So our focus is on the cure exchange of data specifically as it relates to

[00:01:56] Regulated industries got it. Well, I mean very important work

[00:02:00] In light of big things like change healthcare exactly

[00:02:03] There's bad actors out there and we need this type of secure way to exchange ideas

[00:02:08] So why did you attend hymns this year? And what's a key insight that you've gained thus far? Sure. So we're a

[00:02:15] Presenter I'm doing a presentation on artificial intelligence tomorrow at hymns. We're also exhibitors

[00:02:20] We're very large in healthcare. So we're here as a participant

[00:02:24] We're here as a vendor

[00:02:26] We're here as speakers and you know hymns is kind of the place to be right, of course, you know

[00:02:30] If you're in healthcare it's hymns

[00:02:32] So we're always going to be here and now this year in particular

[00:02:35] What was really interesting to us is what I've been seeing is that evolution of artificial intelligence

[00:02:42] Which is where my graduate degree is from so it's really interesting to see it sort of finally coming to fruition

[00:02:48] And what I found interesting this year versus last year is really that evolution

[00:02:53] Going from excitement and buzz about AI to

[00:02:57] Adoption we're in sort of that post hype early adoption part of the curve

[00:03:01] So customers that you know for the last year have been super excited about our AI offerings

[00:03:05] And we're kicking the tires and saying this is really great right now say, okay

[00:03:09] Let's start rolling out. Let's get it going there

[00:03:11] And I think that as you look around last year was sort of the year of AI and at hymns

[00:03:16] This year AI is just sort of it's there right only now

[00:03:19] It's in products as opposed to coming to products and everybody's trying to figure okay

[00:03:24] Obviously, I need to be working AI. How do I work at AI?

[00:03:27] And so it's moved to that. How do I do it not should I do it?

[00:03:30] How does it can just really interesting? Yeah, it's kind of like the idea of

[00:03:33] We don't talk about hey, are you doing business with computers and cell phones? You're just you're just doing it

[00:03:39] And so, you know, I think that's good because ultimately AI is not an end in and of itself

[00:03:44] Right, you know for all of us the technology that we use when we're building these systems is about solving problems

[00:03:50] Right better outcomes for patients more than any other thing

[00:03:53] But when you think about what you're doing in healthcare, you're doing it for that purpose

[00:03:57] So for us when we look at AI, you know when we think about AI

[00:04:01] It's really about how can we do something either more efficiently or more effectively?

[00:04:05] Or quicker than we were doing previously and so when we look at that

[00:04:10] That's where moving kind of out of that big buzz of open AI with chat gpt to now

[00:04:16] Okay, yes a bunch of people have embedded chat gpt in their product

[00:04:18] But how are you actually using AI to make your world better your product better your customer's lives better?

[00:04:25] And that's really the thing that gets exciting to me when I look at him this year

[00:04:28] Is it's much more focused on what am I doing with it as opposed to what is it?

[00:04:32] How could I use it? You know, what's the buzz about it?

[00:04:34] There's no doubt you guys are very engaged as a participant as speakers

[00:04:39] And there's a lot of excitement around the actual applications

[00:04:42] What call to action would you want to leave our viewers and our listeners out there as it relates to AI and the work that you guys do?

[00:04:50] So I think that what's important to me is as I talk about the move from excitement to adoption

[00:04:56] really understand what it is that your organization needs to accomplish and

[00:05:01] Take the time to get educated about where things like AI or really any technology can help you advance your interests

[00:05:08] Versus just me doing it right? So there's a lot of nuance a lot of complexity

[00:05:13] around AI and there's an awful lot of

[00:05:16] Frosil in the industry so do your research understand what you're trying to solve and how you're trying to solve it

[00:05:22] and

[00:05:23] Really look for

[00:05:25] How can I get in on this because we did a conference at a him's regional

[00:05:29] presentation later last year and one of my co-panelists said there's this notion that AI is going to replace

[00:05:34] Doctors or nurses or healthcare practitioners and they said that's not the thing

[00:05:38] It's not that AI is going to replace people

[00:05:41] It's that people who use AI are going to replace people who don't and I think that was a really compelling message

[00:05:46] I think that came from somebody from the AMA and it was a really key point here

[00:05:50] Is that you're not competing against other

[00:05:53] AI's to replace your system or your solution

[00:05:55] You're competing with those people who are using it and you've got to be competitive in that space

[00:05:59] So get educated really understand what makes sense for you and how you can get in there and make a difference

[00:06:05] Because making a difference is why we come to him and be a man

[00:06:09] Yeah, no, I think that's really great and it extends to the businesses and health systems, right?

[00:06:13] Like individuals that use it won't be replaced and health systems and businesses won't be replaced

[00:06:20] But your competitors who are using it are going to have an advantage over you if you don't figure out a way to make it work for you as well

[00:06:26] Totally agree with you now

[00:06:27] There was one thing that you know before we started recording today

[00:06:30] You wanted to share with the audience

[00:06:32] Oh, yeah

[00:06:33] Do you want to dig into the work that you're doing and sort of how you want to help our listeners and viewers?

[00:06:38] So uh

[00:06:39] If you're in healthcare and you're faxing and if you're in healthcare you're faxing

[00:06:43] Direct trust who is the standards provider for the direct secure messaging protocol has established a consensus body

[00:06:49] to create a new ansi standard for interoperable secure cloud faxing if you are interested in

[00:06:55] faxing and healthcare

[00:06:57] I strongly encourage you to go to the direct trust site direct trust dot org and check out the interoperable

[00:07:03] Secure cloud fax initiative. There's a consensus body there

[00:07:07] We want people from every constituency within the healthcare space

[00:07:11] payers providers

[00:07:13] Patients even you know everybody to participate in this process because we're creating a

[00:07:18] Consensus body around standards an ansi standard for healthcare

[00:07:22] faxing that's going to advance that standard it's going to do for faxing

[00:07:25] What the direct messaging standard did for email in healthcare?

[00:07:29] And we want everybody in healthcare to be parts of that

[00:07:32] So please if you have any interest in that consensus body work developing standards

[00:07:37] Please check out direct trust dot org and I believe we'll have a link to that. We will in the podcast as well

[00:07:42] So thank you now Jeff. Thanks for that call out and folks

[00:07:45] We'll leave everything that we discussed today including resources that Jeff shared in the show notes

[00:07:49] So make sure you check those out take action. Appreciate everybody tuning in and Jeff. Thanks for being with us

[00:07:54] Thank you for having me. Appreciate it
