[00:00:03] Hey everybody, welcome back to the Outcomes Rocket.

[00:00:05] Super excited to be recording an episode here

[00:00:08] at HIMSS 2024.

[00:00:10] I have the amazing Dr. Geeta Nair,

[00:00:14] also known as Dr. G.

[00:00:17] Welcome to the podcast.

[00:00:18] Thank you for having me.

[00:00:19] Good to see you in real life.

[00:00:20] Yeah, good to see you too.

[00:00:22] It's been an excellent conference and you're hosting it.

[00:00:26] It has been, I mean, I'm tired.

[00:00:28] I'm not gonna lie, I'm not gonna tell you,

[00:00:29] it's a big place, but it's been phenomenal.

[00:00:31] It's such a great show, such great programming,

[00:00:33] amazing keynotes.

[00:00:34] It's been fantastic.

[00:00:35] Yeah, and we were recording here yesterday

[00:00:37] and got to see you right behind us doing a book signing.

[00:00:41] It was very neat.

[00:00:42] You didn't get a book, you didn't come live.

[00:00:43] I know, I was here, I was recording episodes.

[00:00:46] I know people, I'll get you one.

[00:00:47] I'll get you a book.

[00:00:48] Do you happen to know Dr. G?

[00:00:52] Well, you know, let's just kick this off

[00:00:54] with getting to know you a little bit better.

[00:00:56] So where did Dr. G come from?

[00:00:58] You're so funny, I can't believe

[00:00:59] this is what you're asking me,

[00:01:00] but you know, I have had patients call me Dr. G

[00:01:03] since I was a resident, so since I was a doctor in training,

[00:01:05] but the funniest thing is to hear my daughter

[00:01:08] kind of comment on it.

[00:01:09] She always says, mommy, you know, Dr. G

[00:01:11] makes you sound a lot cooler than you actually are.

[00:01:15] And I'm like, thank you, Sonia.

[00:01:16] Thank you very much for your observation.

[00:01:18] So this guy, as I've gotten older,

[00:01:20] it's gotten more of a thug feel to it,

[00:01:23] but at the time it didn't seem that way.

[00:01:25] That is so funny.

[00:01:27] Hey, we gotta love our kids, right?

[00:01:28] They always humble us in their best way.

[00:01:32] Chatting with you as the chief medical officer

[00:01:35] at Radiant Graph, help us understand what Radiant Graph does

[00:01:39] and how they add value to the ecosystem.

[00:01:41] Sure. Well, first of all,

[00:01:42] I'm super jazzed to be joining the team.

[00:01:43] It's a rockstar team and Mo Madan is our CEO

[00:01:46] and really Radiant Graph is a healthcare-based AI platform

[00:01:50] geared for payers, geared for health services organizations

[00:01:53] that are really focused on consumer engagement,

[00:01:57] meeting clinical needs, and really making sure

[00:02:00] that patients are getting personalized care.

[00:02:02] And I think that's really at the center

[00:02:04] of everything we're trying to do here

[00:02:06] is that we have to personalize care.

[00:02:07] We have to reach the consumer where they're at

[00:02:10] and we ultimately wanna drive outcomes.

[00:02:12] And that's exactly what the patient wants.

[00:02:14] That's exactly what the system wants.

[00:02:15] It's a win-win.

[00:02:16] Love it.

[00:02:17] Well, definitely excited to unpack the work there more.

[00:02:20] For everybody listening and watching,

[00:02:23] you'll have links to Radiant Graph

[00:02:25] and the awesome platform that they have.

[00:02:27] So let's talk about HIMSS.

[00:02:29] There's been a lot of discussions around technology,

[00:02:32] AI, security.

[00:02:34] What's been a topic that's raised up to the top

[00:02:37] that is interesting to you

[00:02:39] and why did you decide to come in this year?

[00:02:42] Well, first of all, I came this year

[00:02:43] because they invited me as MC

[00:02:45] and I have been a HIMSS member for over 20-some years.

[00:02:48] I was on the board.

[00:02:49] I have been involved in HIMSS from the beginning

[00:02:51] and I think it's phenomenal what they're doing with the show

[00:02:53] and with the new relationship with Informa.

[00:02:55] So I'm thrilled to be here,

[00:02:56] thrilled to be the inaugural MC.

[00:02:58] Hopefully you guys think so as well.

[00:03:00] But I think for me,

[00:03:01] the biggest theme that has happened

[00:03:04] and I've seen it progress in the industry

[00:03:06] is we have a lot of technology.

[00:03:08] We have amazing technologies, innovations.

[00:03:10] AI is the beginning.

[00:03:11] We saw some drones flying around earlier,

[00:03:13] but the last mile of healthcare remains the human factor.

[00:03:16] It remains meeting the patient where they're at.

[00:03:18] If you develop an innovation in the lab, in a pilot,

[00:03:21] but you can't actually scale it,

[00:03:24] you can't actually get it to where people are

[00:03:24] and to the people who most need it,

[00:03:26] well, that's a failure.

[00:03:27] And I think everyone continues to struggle with that.

[00:03:30] We see pockets of success, pockets of innovation,

[00:03:32] but the real meat is getting it to be across the ecosystem

[00:03:36] and easy, easy and inexpensive.

[00:03:39] Yeah, no, that's a really great insight, Dr. G

[00:03:41] and just helping be more consumer focused

[00:03:44] is a target for a lot of organizations.

[00:03:46] And for those that couldn't be here

[00:03:48] to benefit from the sessions,

[00:03:50] what advice would you give them

[00:03:52] to help get there?

[00:03:54] Well, I think first and foremost,

[00:03:55] the closer you are to clinical care delivery.

[00:03:58] So what does that mean?

[00:03:59] It means understanding the front end of care,

[00:04:01] even if you're operating in the backend, right?

[00:04:03] So even if you're helping with prior auth,

[00:04:05] even if you're focused on a value-based care,

[00:04:07] contracting perhaps,

[00:04:08] really you have to understand how patients receive,

[00:04:11] engage with healthcare and also what they expect.

[00:04:15] So that's really important.

[00:04:16] And one way to do that is through clinical leadership,

[00:04:18] having a chief medical officer,

[00:04:19] having a chief nursing officer,

[00:04:20] making sure that you're really listening

[00:04:22] to those that are closest to healthcare delivery,

[00:04:24] even if you yourself as a leader are not.

[00:04:26] And at the center of all of it is listening to patients.

[00:04:29] We all talk about the consumer.

[00:04:30] We all talk about wanting to meet the consumer,

[00:04:32] but really understanding what that means

[00:04:34] and where they fall down on the patient journey.

[00:04:36] Doesn't matter if it's the provider side,

[00:04:37] payer side, that's really the key.

[00:04:39] Love it.

[00:04:40] Great tip and a great way for all of us to think about it.

[00:04:42] Now to close things out on this Insight Series,

[00:04:45] I want to just ask,

[00:04:46] what call to action would you leave

[00:04:49] our listeners and viewers with?

[00:04:51] And where's the best place they could reach out to you

[00:04:53] and learn more about the work you guys are doing?

[00:04:55] Sure.

[00:04:55] So, as far as my call to action,

[00:04:57] I would say, again,

[00:04:58] we're living in the most historic time

[00:05:00] in healthcare and health tech.

[00:05:01] We have AI, we have telemedicine,

[00:05:03] all of these things have become a reality

[00:05:05] and no longer a science fiction movie,

[00:05:08] but keeping the human at the center,

[00:05:10] keeping the consumer at the center,

[00:05:11] understanding their personal care needs, their journey,

[00:05:14] that's really the power of where tech comes in

[00:05:16] and being able to truly personalize care,

[00:05:19] do real consumer engagement,

[00:05:21] that is really where also the ROI is at, right?

[00:05:23] So it's not just the right thing to do,

[00:05:25] but there are any number of revenues to be made

[00:05:27] on the provider side, the payer side, you name it.

[00:05:29] As far as where to find me,

[00:05:30] I'm now a member of the Rating Ref team.

[00:05:32] Our website's a great place.

[00:05:33] My website's a great place,

[00:05:34] but I think I might be one of the easier people to find

[00:05:37] out there in the social media space as well.

[00:05:40] Love it.

[00:05:40] Well, you do such a great job

[00:05:41] and we appreciate you jumping on the podcast today

[00:05:44] and spending time with us.

[00:05:45] Thanks, Dr. G.

[00:05:46] You bet.

[00:05:47] Thanks for having me.

[00:05:48] And everybody, thank you for tuning in.

[00:05:50] Check out the show notes for ways to get in touch.

[00:05:52] Take care.
